SHOW GARDEN
The show garden, constructed between Christmas 2003 and mid January 2004, has been designed to combine various practical ideas suitable for most gardens, using both curves and straight lines. In order to include as many features as possible, these have been scaled down, whilst still exhibiting a range of materials and planting schemes reflecting different styles of garden including traditional, Mediterranean and woodland all predominately low maintenance. Chipped bark has been used as a one source low maintenance medium, which also helps to bring the different parts of the garden together in a complete design. A new garden often looks sparse as there are only a few mature plants, but young shrubs and plants will quickly grow into the spaces allowed for them. A key problem with this particular site is the large number of rabbits and foxes in the area. For this reason it has not been possible to use a full range of perennials and shrubs. This will be rectified later with a purpose built surround to prevent their access. In time, the garden will grow to demonstrate other garden styles and materials, including decking, fencing, seating, lighting and other garden accessories. |
